It's no secret that writers are egregiously defensive of their works, often to the point where they're so apprehensive of the recognition and feedback they desperately crave that their labor of love stays locked away.
The inverse of this dynamic is the unrealistic expectation that your audience will seek you out, despite you being a relative unknown. All of that to say that I am now straying into the wilderness, offering the stories I have crafted over the years in search of the audience they deserve.
This blog will serve as a figurative launchpad--to gauge interest without being swept away by the algorithms of larger platforms such as Reddit. Posts will be mirrored on my BlueSky and mstdn.plus accounts, but will originate here.
Probably a reasonable point to introduce myself. I am Vincente Marco Abrantes, I primarily write fiction in the Venn Diagram overlap between Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I've dabbled in other genres. Part of the reason I've decided to pursue this avenue of putting myself out there stems from a disillusionment with the traditional publishing industry. I'm not interested in writing what literary agencies are looking for, nor am I striving for commercial success.
So, away we go. Whether you're along for the long run or just a passing glance, your consideration is appreciated all the same.
